Stephanie provided an entertaining description of new children's books (including this year's award winners) that are good read-aloud choices.
Live Fierce: Presentation by Kristy Sidlar September 21, 2023
Kristy shared an amazing story of great health to near death and surviving into a new life as a SurThriver. Her book is called "Change of Heart: My Journey of Transplantation, Revelation and Transformation".
Annual Fundraiser April 20, 2023
Our theme was "High Times in Dry Times". The food, drink, entertainment and friendship were all fabulous. We also collected needed items for Cass Community Social Services. This was an amazing success thanks to the hard work and planning of our dedicated volunteers.
February Meeting 2/16/2023
Stephanie Klimmek, Youth Services Director at the Baldwin Public Library in Birmingham provided entertaining presentations about new read-aloud children's books.
September Meeting 9/8/2022
Our speakers were illustrator and muralist, Wendy Popko and children's author, Cathy Collison. They presented their recent children's book. Wendy also shared her creative process as a muralist.
June Meeting/Picnic 6/16/2022
The last meeting for this year was a picnic at James C Nelson park with a short meeting, a book exchange and a book reading presentation by Carol Spears.
May Meeting 5/19/2022
Lois Keel presented a one woman show Reflections of a One Room School Teacher. Her reenactment provided incites as to what it was like to work in a one-room schoolhouse.
April Tea 4/21/2022
The tea was enjoyed by a large turn-out of members and friends. In addition to the wonderful tea and foods, a very large amount of items were donated to the Redford Brightmoor Initiative who provide free shopping and many other services to those who need help. There was a very successful silent auction and book sale. We were entertained by the STG players who comically acted out the events of the "Lighthouse Keeper's Daughter".
March Meeting 3/17/2022
Sandy Ling, Detroit Zoo Education Technology Manager, provided an inside look at some of the rescued animals at the zoo.
StoryTime Guild Holiday Lunch 12/9/2021
Beautifully decorated tables by STG members highlighted the holiday lunch this year. Linda Wilson was recognized for her many important contributions to STG. Hats, gloves and books were collected for donation to the Motor City Mitten Mission.
November Meeting 11/18/2021
Colleen Kammer brought good new books and described some of her favorite newer children's books.
October Meeting 10/21/2021
Dr. John White, Parade Company tour guide presented information about the Thanksgiving Day parade. He described how the floats are made and how they involve school children. We learned a lot about the parade and enjoyed some fun during the presentation.

End of Year Picnic 6/17/2021
Picnic took place at Nelson Park in Sterling Heights. This was the first face-to-face gathering since the pandemic began and it was wonderful to see each other again. We elected officers for next year, enjoyed pita sandwiches and a book swap. Thanks for all the hard work from our amazing "retiring" co-chairs - Pat Boland-Saoud and Susan Duda.
